And
now to what happened
I
was slowly tiptoeing my way across the ground, keeping my eyes open for
any signs of suspicious activity going on around me. The only comfort that I could find was the flashlight and the
gun in my hands. I swung the
narrow beam of light all around me, and all I could see was the trees in
the distance. A soft breeze
blew thru, giving me a cold chill.
SNAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I screamed as I turned around and fired my gun blindly in the air.
“A tree branch Jill! YOU
ARE BEING IRRATIONAL!!! We don’t even know what it is…it could be
someone’s dog for all you know. And
hey if it is just blow its brains out.”
My own voice was comforting. My
breathing was rapid, and my heart was beating like a drum in my chest.
“Get yourself together!” I
was getting myself so worked up in the whole situation that I began to see
things, and soon even began to hear things.
Every time I turned around something would startle me.
Then I heard something move. I knew it had to be real, so I began
to run. And then,
all of a sudden, I tripped over something. I landed hard on the ground, knocking the wind out of myself
for a moment. As soon as I
regained my breath, I got up and brushed myself off.
I looked back at the object that tripped me. What I saw made my knees weak.
I could not stand the sight.
The body of Chris Redfield, a fellow member of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha
team, had suffered the same fate as many other people in Raccoon City.
He had been viciously and brutally murdered, eaten alive by some
unknown being. After seeing
that I felt that I could not go on. “What
if that thing comes after me?” I
thought to myself.
Then,
I heard a ghostly sound, like someone that could not get air.
I turned around quickly, and gasped.
It was Chris; he was not dead after all.
There was a lot of blood coming out of his wounds, and I knew that
he would not make it. “You
have to move Jill, it is your only hope…” I heard him say.
I knew he was right, but I could not leave him alone.
“That, that thing is arou…” he gasped for air, “it is
around here. Leave me here…save yourse…” and that was the last thing
he said. I knew that he was
gone.
But now I had to find what was doing this.
It’s gone too far. I
can’t let anyone else suffer this fate, even if it meant sacrificing
myself. My flashlight batteries began to run low, “Dumb off brands.”
I had to save the rest of the batteries for when I met up with the
creature that killed Chris. So began to jog blindly.
I slammed into something. I
fell backwards and quickly got up. I could feel someone’s breath on my
neck. I quickly flipped the
switch to the flashlight, and turned around. With the light flickering and
going dim I could see something staring back at me.
It was one of the most hideous creatures I had ever seen. It’s
eyes sunken in the back of its head, it’s skin a pale gray, blood
pouring out over his face, it’s clothes torn up from walking thru the
forest, it’s teeth a butter-yellow. I felt that I would soon faint.
It grabbed me around the neck.
I tried reaching for my gun, but he pinned my arm to the side of
me. I dropped my flashlight. It faced us, flickering lightly like a fire.
I gasped for breath as he cut off my air supply, and I managed to
choke out the question “Why are you doing this?”
He answered back, in a low, throaty voice, as you would think of
Death’s voice if it had one. He said, “Jill, no one can save you now.
Give up. Live the
nightmare!”
I kicked his legs out from under him and grabbed my gun. With it
being so dark I could not see him very well.
I fired three shots into what I thought was his chest before he
could get up, but it didn’t stop him.
I could not tell if I hit him or not.
He got up, stumbled a little bit, and advanced towards me.
I fired another shot blindly, and I heard the bullet smash into a
nearby tree. I knew that I had missed.
He grabbed me by the neck again and began to squeeze.
I began to black out, but before I did, I shot two more shots. It didn’t affect him any.
All of a sudden he let go of my neck.
I was still weak, so I couldn’t do anything to get up.
He got down on the ground, blood pouring out of the hole I had made
in his head, and sunk his teeth deep into my throat.
I
saw my life flash before my eyes. The
way my father bounced me on his knee when I was a child, my first kiss,
High school graduation. It
seemed like hours passed as the memories began to get more and more
unclear. He let go.
I couldn’t breath; I was dying slowly.
The blood was gushing from the flesh wound that I had in my neck.
Any time I tried to talk, all I got was a gargling sound from the
blood.
I saw a dagger in his side, without even thinking about it I
grabbed it and swung it into its head.
I looked as the creature dropped to the ground, dead.
After, I stopped some of the bleeding; I pulled the dagger out of
its head, and decided to take it with me.
As I began to stick it in my pocket, I noticed something carved
into the side, it said, “C
h r I s.” And
at that moment I felt a cold chill down my spine, like he was here with
me.
I
headed back to headquarters, and let them know that Chris had been killed.
Then, as the grief let up a bit, I went home.
I slipped into bed, and began to think about what had happened.
Finally, I had rid the world of one of these creatures.
But what if there were more? I
had only killed one. The
world started to spin, and black started to cloak my vision.
The last vision I had before I went to sleep was the hideous
creature that had killed Chris and many others.
